Last Tuesday, many in the community were heartbroken to see Henley College on fire. We watched as the West Midlands Fire Service worked day and night to contain and control the fire. It’s tragic circumstances like this that remind us of the importance of the work that our fire services do year round.
Therefore, I was happy to visit Coventry Fire Station on Friday, alongside Cllr Catherine Miks and Cllr Cathryn Bayton, who also acts as Chair of the West Midlands Fire and Rescue Authority. We had a very informative meeting with West Midlands Fire Service’s Head of Prevention and the Station Manager.
It was great to hear about the different prevention and educational programs that the service conducts in the community. I also had a tour of the station and whilst we were checking out the fire trucks a call came in so I was able to see in-person how quickly our fire fighters get out to emergency calls.
I want to say a huge thank you to all the firefighters that work tirelessly to keep our communities safe!
