Checking Progress After the Floods
This week, I visited the development sites in Keresley, where flooding earlier this year caused significant disruption to local residents. Seeing the area firsthand was important — not just to assess how the situation has progressed, but to understand the concerns still felt by many constituents.
While some improvements have been made, questions remain about long-term flood prevention, drainage systems, and how future development will affect the local environment. These are not just technical issues — they impact people’s homes, safety, and peace of mind.
A Chance to Speak Up
To help address these concerns, I’ll be hosting a coffee afternoon this Friday, 8th August, at St Thomas’s Church in Keresley, from 5pm to 7pm. This informal event is open to everyone. Local developers will be present, giving residents the chance to speak with them directly, ask questions, and raise any issues they’ve experienced.
Whether you’ve been affected by flooding, have concerns about ongoing construction, or simply want to stay informed, this is a valuable opportunity to be heard. You don’t need to book — just drop in.
Why It Matters
Flooding isn’t just about water damage. It’s about the anxiety of not knowing if your home is safe, the disruption to daily life, and the feeling that your community’s needs aren’t being prioritised. That’s why open dialogue between residents and developers is essential.
By creating space for conversation, we can push for better planning, stronger protections, and more responsive development practices. Your voice matters — and this coffee afternoon is designed to make sure it’s heard.
