I had a wonderful time visiting Coundon Care Seniors’ Club recently — a warm, welcoming space where older residents come together to connect, create, and enjoy each other’s company. On the day I visited, the room was filled with laughter and creativity as residents gathered over tea to make jewellery, sharing stories and smiles in equal measure.
It was also a pleasure to tour their fantastic facilities and speak with staff about the vital work they’re doing to tackle isolation among older people in Coventry. From arts and crafts to musical entertainment, Coundon Care offers a wide range of activities designed to stimulate both mind and body — but more importantly, they provide a sense of belonging.
Founded nearly 40 years ago, the club continues to live out its mission of offering affordable, high-quality day care in a homely environment. With trained staff, home-cooked meals, and transport options, it’s a lifeline for many families and a cherished part of the local community.
Spaces like Coundon Care remind us that social connection is essential to wellbeing. Clubs like this don’t just offer activities — they offer friendship, purpose, and joy. Whether it’s a game of cards, a shared lunch, or a quiet chat, these moments matter deeply.
A heartfelt thank you to the team and residents for the warm welcome. Your work is helping to build a more compassionate Coventry, where no one is left behind.
