I had the pleasure of joining Northbrook Athletics Club for an evening run — a fantastic way to stay active while connecting with residents from across Coventry. The club’s welcoming atmosphere and community spirit made the experience truly memorable.
As we jogged through the route, I had brilliant conversations with members about everything from fitness and wellbeing to local life in Coventry. It was inspiring to hear how running brings people together, not just for physical health, but for friendship, motivation, and shared purpose.
Sports clubs like Northbrook AC are more than just places to exercise — they’re hubs of connection and empowerment. Whether you’re training for a race or just looking to move more, joining a local club is a great way to:
Meet new people and build lasting friendships
Boost mental health through endorphins and routine
Gain confidence and develop personal goals
Feel part of a community that supports and uplifts
For many, these clubs offer a sense of belonging and a safe space to grow — physically, socially, and emotionally. They’re also vital for community wellbeing, often organising events, fundraisers, and outreach programmes that strengthen local ties.
A huge thank you to everyone at Northbrook for the warm welcome — and for reminding us that staying active is about more than movement. It’s about community, conversation, and keeping Coventry moving forward.
If you run a community organisation and would like me to attend, let me know by scrolling to the bottom of this page and scheduling a visit!
