3 December 2025: It was wonderful to join the Street Harassment Awareness Run last month and stand alongside local runners supporting such an important initiative. Events like this play a vital role in raising awareness about street harassment and promoting safer, more inclusive spaces for everyone who enjoys running in our community.
I was also pleased to help shine a wider spotlight on the event by supporting media coverage and speaking about the importance of safer streets for women and girls. I joined Vic Minett on BBC CWR, alongside the organiser Sam and fellow runners, to discuss why initiatives like this matter and how we can all play a role in tackling harassment.
Championing Safer and More Inclusive Running
A big thank you to Northbrook AC for organising the event and for their continued efforts to make running safer and more welcoming for all. Their commitment to inclusion and community safety is making a real difference.
I am also grateful to Simon Foster PCC and Coventry Police for coming along to support the cause and help raise awareness. 
Partnership working between community groups and local policing is key to improving safety and building confidence.
Making Our Streets Safer for Runners
Together, we are making positive strides towards safer streets for all runners. If running with others would help you feel safer, I strongly encourage you to reach out and get involved.
Northbrook AC’s buddy systems, WhatsApp groups and new group sessions are fantastic ways to stay connected, supported and safe while out on the streets. By working together as a community, we can ensure that everyone feels confident and secure when taking part in sport and exercise locally.
